No they did NOT give Aoko the same voice actor as Conan. Losing my mind thinking about kid at a heist with Conan and accidentally thinking it's Aoko

The mood of this part of the episode is so different from the rest of the show I love it. The art style and soundtrack and even subject matter is so different it creates a really cool vibe you don't really get with any other episode

But that trick with the cyanide was way too dangerous. Like someone else could've had a similar habit or like touch their lips or something. It's not like she knows everyone there that well.

I was going insane when they started killing each other. I was so confused I thought they couldn't kill of main characters like that I was losing it.
But I can't imagine Hakuba going along with Conan's plan. He seems too pretentious to willingly ruin his fancy and expensive suit with ketchup. I love Hakuba so much it goes back around to making fun of him.

Man this episode is so good and definitely one of my favorites. The culprit and the trick are just so unexpected and there's so many plot twists it's is fun! Even though kid wasn't there much in the second part, I liked his fun little cameo at the end. At least I knew who he was disguised as ahead of time so he was there in spirit.
I feel like again this episode would've been better split into two, the two cases really don't have any correlation besides being kid related, but my love for this episode overrides any of that!

if the two 'travelers' who walked into The Sunset Mansion on day 2 previously had laced those 'leaves' with LSD or PCP and perhaps an amphetamine it would explain how everybody went nuts. then as long as the two 'travelers' locked themselves in a secure room somewhere, the 'rich guests' couldn't kill them. those two also wouldn't be exposed to much of the 'extra drugs' floating around inside the MJ smoke. especially if they picked a room with a window or two that would supply them with fresh air.

but to get all those guests and the staff 'drugged' that would have had to been a very BIG packet of dope!

Shin actually did see The Kid when Shin shot the first tether to the screen hanging over the clock. The Kid used his 'card launcher' to cut the top two tethers so the screen would cover his falling escape. now, how The Kid landed under the screen? that part i didn't see or couldn't figure out.

hey, have you been reading the manga/watching The Kid anime? i haven't, all those characters in his 'secret identity' school scene(s) made little to no sense to me.

did you notice that 'flashback to a flashback to a flashback' scene where Ran notices Kid n his gal-pal discussing Sonoko's daddy's 'Black Pearl' while the two couples were walking opposite directions in the cross-walk? :> definitely a fun blast to the past scene :> from The Black Pearl Case...

the problem is, THAT scene entirely BREAKS the franchise's anime established timeline. this special puts Shin and Ran in that crosswalk. whereas if i recall correctly Ran and Shin are walking as her and CONAN when those two couples pass each other in the crosswalk of The Black Pearl episode... or am i mis-remembering ?? because i'm entirely certain it was Conan who met The Kid on the roof of that building... Kid kept calling Conan 'bozu' child/kid. ;)

i do find it very funny that the mangaka puts the gal-pal/GF and Kid together when she's the daughter of a cop. ;>

Yes I have seen magic kaito! I totally get how that'd be confusing. The old man, Jii, is Kaito's assistant. There's Kaito's birth assigned girlfriend, Aoko (which is pretty funny her dad's the inspector who chases after KID now that you mention). But I'm assuming you're talking more about Akako, the long haired cryptic girl. She's canonically a witch and has magic powers (in contrast to Kaito's non-supernatural magic) which is really weird for a show like detective Conan, but she only shows up here. And magic kaito and detective Conan are technically two completely different shows/ manga

Yeah I loved the callback to the black star case!! Actually I think that scene takes place after the before black star as normal and they were just showing it again to let us know it was a KID episode or something. After that it cuts to Kaito and Jii on that tower (or whatever it was) which I think takes place in the same day as that scene , and the heist Jii was worried about was probably the black star, about Conan, and not the clocktower. Then the whole clocktower heist was just Kaitou's flashback. Then it cuts back to Jii and Kaito on that tower and he leaves for the black star heist, I think

Kaito~ I love him! He's such a cool character, both as himeself and as Kaitou Kid. Aww, Conan hiding at 28:59, that was so cute. Sleepy Cone, but also once again he's not wearing a seatbelt. Do japanese cars just not have seatbelts in the back or something? Why does he have a hawk with him? Hakuba is so dramatic lol, all the Gosho boys are. How rich do you have to be to waste that much gold? This was a really good episode, Kaitou Kid episodes are always really good.
